Now days people don't want to pay for apps in the Apple app store, and maybe you want to put a them on your iDevice. Since the first iPhone came out there was a process called jailbreaking to unlock your phone and you will get an app called Cydia, this app allows you to run apps, tweets, or mods that Apple does now allow.
To jailbreak your iDevice, you have to check your device's Version. Every version has a different jailbreak. For guides visit:

Jailbreaking a legal now, but there is still a slight risk. 1 out of 1000 may have a problem. Note: Apple will not fix your broken iDevice if they know the jailbreak cased it.
It is safe, try it out. I have a jailbroken iPod touch. Jailbreak works on iPhones, iPod touchs, iPads, and soon coming to Macs.
